“Truth Begins In Lies”
Truth begins in lies. A quote from House, the pilot since that’s what I watched. In order to tell the truth we begin with lies. Now is House suggesting that we tell lies in order to tell the truth? In the movie V for Vendetta, they mention something to the extent of “Artists use lies to tell the truth where as politicians use them to cover it up.” What about normal people? I may be an artist of sorts but I interact with normal people all the time. Do normal people fall into the covering up or the telling the truth? Or maybe it depends on the person? Now I can see the politician side of things, and I can see the artist side of things. But what I’m trying to wrap my head around is House’s version. In House there is also the quote “Everybody Lies”. Yes, everybody lies, but why?
They lie to get out of trouble (cover the truth up), they lie to protect others (again, covering), they lie to get something they want (covering truth again). It would appear, that each of these reasons puts the average human being in the “politician” category.
But truth begins in lies, truth cannot be proven as truth unless there are lies to disprove. I tell you the truth by telling you what lies are in fact, lies.
As far as my personal habit of lying. I do lie, I may not lie intentionally all the time. I prefer to call it “Fabricating the Truth” or “Telling a Fairy Tale”. Fairy tale fits much better with my desire to be a writer. I like to think that when I don’t know an answer that someone asks me and instead I say “oh you’re tired because of the three ring circus in your brain…” and go on to describe it, I’m just practicing for my career. I try to prevent lying when it comes to more serious things I’m not perfect, sometimes it happens unconciously, but I do what I can to prevent it.
House:Pilot (2004)- So I’ve watched a lot of House, segments full episodes, all that good stuff. But now i’m starting at the begining, going to follow the series through to the end. Love the character set up they worked in to the episode. For a Pilot that isn’t longer than the normal show they packed a lot of information into the Pilot in the same amount of time. Some of the dialouge was a little dry, but for the most part I enjoyed this. Certainly watching the rest of the season.
