Tv Land

So earlier today I was watching snippets of this show on the History Channel entitled “The History of the Joke” or something like that. It was basically two hours worth of interviews with comedians in an attempt to find the greatest joke ever. Now, I haven’t watched the entire segment yet, but it occurs to me that jokes are very…very cultural. I mean I can tell the same joke to a variety of people, but not everyone will think it is funny if they can’t relate to the subject matter. Try telling a joke about the IRS to a five year old and let me know how that goes.

In the further subject of TV last night was the season finale of Monk. I got a chance to watch it today…weird, because for some reason I thought Monk hadn’t got picked up for a seventh season…but apparently it has. That’s chill, I like Monk but Adrian Monk vs Shawn Spencer…common, is there even a contest there? Anyways, the season finale was good, I missed the last few minutes of the part 1 episode from the week before, and had I seen it, then things might have been a little more…anticipated I spose. But as it was, Monk seemed to be very…un monkish-over a lot of his phobias anyways for quite a bit of the episode.

As far as Stargate Atlantis goes, quite a few twists with the return of some characters I wasn’t expecting and the return of one I was expecting ( ^.^ ). Amanda Tapping seemed to have a LOT more screen time in this episode than she has had thus far, that was cool. I hate that it was a two parter and I don’t get to see the explanation for the return of the one character I was looking forward to for like…three weeks. Since I likely wont be at home for quite some time and I don’t get Sci-Fi channel at school :(

On another note, I’ve been told several times by multiple people that I really need to get into this show Chuck. My mom had it recorded on our PVR (see like a Tivo only not as good) and so I watched the Pilot and what I think was the second episode. It was entertaining, but I’m not sure they did the pilot as well as they could have. The pilot needs to set the premise and a basic understanding for the grounds upon which the show is built, and while I feel that the Chuck pilot laid out some of those foundations, there was a lot of questions I still had that didn’t get answered. However I can say with relative certainty that I will watch some more of this show. Plus he drives almost the same car as Psych’s Burton Guster does, yay for almost identical company cars!

On a semi unrelated note-Yay for the writer’s strike being over. I wish they would release some of the details of the contract so that I could see them, after all, that is a field I plan to go into.
